Aesha studied jazz and lyrical dance with eyes on Broadway. She felt challenged by ballet and decided to give it a shot. However, she was warned about problems she would face as a ballerina woman of colour. That warning made her even more determined to top the ballet world.
By1996, she joined City Ballet as a full time performer. She went to Switzerland in 2002 as a soloist. She returned to her country in 2005. By 2009 she was married and settled down into motherhood. Of course she decided to give back to her people by becoming a ballet teacher.
She became the first African American female faculty member of School of American Ballet in 2020.
